I've heard some interesting stories to say the least. But these are especially unusual. I know some feel like the situation they're in must be the worst but here's an it could always be worse be grateful top 10 list of child support stories that to me sound unbelievable.
1. In Albuquerque NM, a woman named who will remain anonymous received at least $20,000 in court ordered payments from her ex husband for his "daughter". After 5 years of no one being able to verify the existence of the child she then kidnapped someone's kid to bring to court when she was ordered to show the child. Truly amazing.
2. In Moultrie Georgia, another young lady who will remain unnamed convinced an ex boyfriend he fathered a child with her and started receiving payments and allowing overnight visitation with the child. Problem is, the child was her friend's daughter who she babysat during the week who knew nothing of this turn of events. This went on for 2 years before she was caught.
3. A 44 year old Michigan man who will remain anonymous is responsible for fathering 23 children with at least 14 women and not paying support. He was sentenced to 23-48 months in jail for being behind to the tune of $533,000 at the time the article was written.
4. In Knoxville Tennessee, another young man pays the state maximum 50% of his income to support his children. Did I mention he makes minimum wage and is currently paying support for 21 kids by 11 mothers? Wow...
5. This other poor guy spent over a year in jail for failure to pay for a child he didn't father and it was known by the court he didn't father this child for 9 years prior to his incarceration.
6. The names aren't mentioned in this story for protection of the child. In the United Kingdom there's a married couple who paid a woman 4,500 euros up front to carry a child for them. During the pregnancy she decided to not only keep the child and the money, but pursue support from the woman's husband and was awarded 568 euros a month. They aren't allowed visitation.

8. A support scam was uncovered in San Antonio Texas involving 13 people accused of diverting thousands of dollars of payments due to custodial parents to themselves. A figure of $275,000 during a period of 2 years is the alleged amount of money and time frame mentioned.
9. Another anonymous guy was being garnished for support payments from his paycheck but his boss decided to keep the money so they began taking money out of his bank account to make up for it.
10. And last but not least, the feds shut down a collection firm in Georgia for extorting monies from paying parents and keeping it themselves using tactics such as home made notes to the employer for garnishment directly to them. Even though this was an apparent crime the paying parents were told the money they paid to the firm was not only lost, but needed to be repaid to the child support recipient.
